Great game, but App Store version is crippled
This is a great sequel to Borderlands. Although there are some plot holes, the storyline is far more coherent than the original game. The humor is better as well. I’ve played all the way through on Assassin mode and am starting other characters. It was challenging without being overly frustrating, though some of the side quests seem inordinately difficult.
One flaw in the game is the restrictions that other reivewers mention on the App Store version; limited multiplayer and no Shift codes. I don’t play multiplayer, but the lack of Shift codes is annoying. There is a golden chest in Sanctuary, the main mission hub of 90% of the game that you see when you arrive every time. It’s supposed to be unlockable with golden keys, but there is no way to get a golden key in the Mac App version. Fine, but why keep the chest in the game, then?
That aside, I really enjoyed the game and felt it well worth the purchase price. I’ve played the original for hours on end and am looking forward to exploring to find what I missed on my first playthrough.
